Search & Rescue Operations

Currently, Bristow Helicopters are conducting essential training flights in preparation for the new Search and Rescue (SAR) service launching soon at Weston Airport. This critical service will provide life-saving emergency response coverage for Ireland's east coast under contract with the Irish Department of Transport.

Training operations are conducted according to Irish Aviation Authority requirements and include both day and night flights to ensure crews are fully prepared for all emergency scenarios. We anticipate training frequency will decrease significantly once the service becomes operational and crews complete their certification requirements.

While our operators make every effort to minimise flights over residential areas, emergency service training must sometimes follow specific flight paths for safety and operational requirements. We are committed to working with Bristow to limit community impact wherever safely possible.

Weston Airport values our relationship with the local community. We encourage residents with noise concerns to submit details through our online complaint form, which allows us to track patterns and work with operators to address issues where feasible.
